Special events and glorious weather keep the crowds coming in September and this year is the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrim’s landing in Provincetown with celebratory events starting this month.
September 10 to 14 – Provincetown 400 celebrations kick-off with a visit from the Mayflower II
Visit this remarkable facsimile of the original Mayflower while it is docked in Provincetown. Free admission.
September 12 – 33nd Annual Provincetown Harbor Swim For Life & Paddler Flotilla
Hundreds of swimmers and paddlers brave the cold and choppy water to raise money for various AIDS, Women and Community charities.
September 12 – Provincetown 400 Gala
A celebratory party to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrim’s landing in Provincetown held on the grounds of the Pilgrim Monument….Hmm would the Pilgrims approve?
September 13 – Mayflower Compact Re-Enactment Ceremony and VIP Party
The Mayflower Compact was signed 400 years ago in Provincetown Harbor.
September 13 – General Society of Mayflower Descendants Memorial Program
A program of reenactments and lunch held at the Pilgrim Monument
September 14 – Mayflower II Departure Toast Party
Enjoy a toast as the Mayflower II reenacts it’s departure 400 years ago from Provincetown harbor for it’s voyage across Cape Cod Bay to Plymouth.
September 15 to 19 – Afterglow Alternative Performance Arts Festival
The 9th annual celebration of the avant-garde in performance arts as you will only find in Provincetown
September 17 to 19 – National Gay Pilots Association
Gay pilots from everywhere fly into Ptown for a weekend of fun and comradery.
September 18 to 20 – Yankee Lambda Car Club Provincetown Invitational
Join gay antique car owners as they show off their pride and joys with a car show and antique car parade through town.
September 18 to 21 – IWFFA Provincetown Classic Women’s Flag Football Tournament
The women take to the field.
September 20 to 26 – Pet Appreciation Weekend
This is the weekend to be in Ptown for all our guests with dogs. A fun-filled schedule of dog celebration events including a pet T-Dance at the Boatslip, a pet parade down Commercial Street, pet talent and costume contests and much more. A great showcase for your dog to strut their stuff in Ptown.
September 24 to 27 – Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival
2016 marked the centenary of the year Eugene O’Neill began writing ground-breaking plays in Provincetown, considered the birthplace of modern American theater.
