Special events and glorious weather keep the crowds coming in September.
September 3 to 6 – The Great Provincetown Schooner Regatta
This 17th annual four day festival includes events for sailors, visitors and spectators. Visitors may tour historic vessels, learn more about them, reserve a seat on a schooner, watch races from spectator boats and advantageous areas all about town.
September 8 – 31st Annual Provincetown Harbor Swim For Life & Paddler Flotilla
Over 1000 swimmers and paddlers brave the cold and choppy water as they traverse the bay from Long Point to The Boatslip Resort to raise money for various AIDS, Women and Community charities.
September 10 to 16 – Afterglow Alternative Performance Arts Festival
The 8th annual celebration of the avant-garde in performance arts as you will only find in Provincetown
September 13 to 16 – National Gay Pilots Association
Gay pilots from everywhere fly into Ptown for a weekend of fun and comradery.
September 14 to 16 – Yankee Lambda Car Club Provincetown Invitational
Join gay antique car owners as they show off their pride and joys with a car show and antique car parade through town.
September 23 to 29 – Pet Appreciation Weekend
This is the weekend to be in Ptown for all our guests with dogs. A fun-filled schedule of dog celebration events including a pet T-Dance at the Boatslip, a pet parade down Commercial Street, pet talent and costume contests and much more. A great showcase for your dog to strut their stuff in Ptown.
September 27 to 30 – Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival
2016 marked the centenary of the year Eugene O’Neill began writing ground-breaking plays in Provincetown, considered the birthplace of modern American theater. This year, the 12th Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater (TW Fest) will offer new approaches to staging O’Neill from the perspective of Tennessee Williams’ genre-busting dramas under the theme of Wishful Thinking.
September 29 – Provincetown Dance Trophy Ballroom Dance Competition
Provincetown’s Same-sex Ballroom Dance competition with a show, dinner and dance featuring The Mood Swings Orchestra. Dancing With The Stars with a unique Ptown bent.
