At the end of 2018 Massachusetts passed an extensive new tax program which largely applies to short term condo and home rentals bringing them into equity with current lodging taxes that hotels pay. As part of this legislation all lodging rentals on Cape Cod will be subject to an additional tax of 2.75% which will be directed to the Cape Cod Water Protection Trust. This tax will be applied to all stays booked after March 28, 2019. Additionally Massachusetts has broadened lodging categories that now fall under the tax obligation for all stays after March 28, 2019. For guests of Aerie House this now includes our dog fee which had not been subject to occupancy taxes prior to this.
